An old Chinese guy with a pierced cheek through his mouth is one of the rituals during vegetarian festival here in Hatyai. The Hatyai Vegetarian Festival is an annual event held during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar. It is believed that the vegetarian festival and its accompanying sacred rituals bestowed good fortunes upon those who religiously observe this rite. During this time, local residents strictly observe a 10-day vegetarian for the purpose of spiritual cleansing and merit-making and also want to promote stop killing animal life and eat vegetarian foods for a healthy life.

Purple Lily
This flower was taken around 10 in the morning on September 30, 2013. When i passed by seven-eleven near my flat this flower caught my eyes with its natural waterdrops after a short rain. I took this picture with my canon 550D with its kit 18-55 mm lens. I zoomed it all the way with a shutter speed of 1/159 seconds, aperture F11 and ISO of 100. I submitted this flower in an online photography contest under nature close-up category and won an award of the week (1st) out of 3,792 entries. http://www.pixoto.com/images-photography/nature-up-close/flowers/6373529536692224
Bridge
This bridge is one of my favorite landmarks in Hatyai City. It is located in western part of the city in a Muslim community village. It's around 15 minutes drive by motorcycle from my apartment. I haven't expected to witness and capture this wonderful sunset because there's rain shower early afternoon that day. This was taken yesterday (October 11, 2013) with my two friends. I used canon 550D 18-55mm lens with 1/7 sec shutter speed, F11 aperture and 100 ISO. This is an HDR processed picture using Photomatix and Photoshop
